We started this blog to document our obsessions, feelings and overall-fangirl tendencies towards our childhood entertainers as well as (more relevant) pop culture.
I like to call our stance early-onset nostalgia – SAM
Not to bash my 20s, but my tween years were my golden years. – SARAH
I’m the elder of the duo, by one year, so this means I’m wiser and more-worldly, naturally. Just kidding. I’m generally a 15-year-old girl at heart. I’m originally from Indiana, I went to school in Chicago, and now I make my home in NYC. My musical tastes run the gamut, but I consider 90s R&B a must on any party playlist. (I know all the lyrics to pretty much any top 40 song from the past decade.) I have Lizzie McGuire on DVD, and I’m pretty sure admitting that means I’m never going to date again, ever. My favorite shows include The OC and My So-Called Life. I don’t question that Jared Leto has made a comeback with his band. Why would you? Look at that face. My sister always made me the yellow power ranger, and I was a fan of anything ninja when I was little (3 Ninjas, Surf Ninjas, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles…) My first concert was the Counting Crows. My first out-of-town concert was Blink 182. My first WTF-am-I-doing-here concert was 98 Degrees and Dream (don’t get me wrong — I loved it). For a good part of my life I thought I was going to marry Ryan Sheckler. I still have (and use!) my Caboodle from when I was six. It has an original name label on it. I want Dunkaroos at my wedding. I really think that’s all you need to know about me… for now. (Oh, I also write this blog. And have a Tumblr. Sarah doesn’t.)
Either I’m a five-year-old trapped in a 20-something’s body or I’m a cartoon character. My interests include cute puppies and Hello Kitty, but some current words in my vocabulary are “Zoinks” and “Hullabaloo.” So take your pick. I’m an LA native but I came to NYC at the ripe ol’ age of 18 and I’ve been there ever since (with some trips back to California for my sanity). I’m a sucker for a good boy band (BSB 4ever). I’d like to thank the Spice Girls and Gloria Steinem for teaching me about women’s empowerment. I spent most of my tween years bathed in body glitter and butterfly clips. My first love was Freddie Prinze Jr (I may have watched She’s All That five times in one day). I’m obsessed with Gilmore Girls and realized a life-long dream when I met Logan Huntzberger at my real-life job. I named my sister Michelle after Michelle Tanner of Full House, it’s true, ask my mom. I still believe that one sweet day, Britney and Justin will get back together (what can I say? I’m a hopeless romantic). In my next life I want to be a Disney Channel child star, hopefully I’ll go the way of Selena Gomez rather than Miley or Demi (sorry, ladies). Oh and my biggest secret is I don’t know how to ride a bike. It’s sad but I never made it past training wheels.
– We were both born in the 80s.
– We thought about using pseudonyms for this blog, as we’re pretty sure this just killed any romance prospects and probably lost us some friends.
– We’ve both seen the Jonas Brothers in concert. Well, sort of…
